Malvi has just begun learning how to crochet this year. When school was changed to remote learning, her grandmother came to stay with her during the days that her parents (an EMT and a pharmacist) were working. In the evenings, when her school work and chores were all done, her grandmother started teaching her to crochet. Malvi made a little blanket for her sisters doll. Then she made herself a warm scarf for the winter. Her grandmother thought that learning how to make a granny square in one color was good practice for the pattern. Malvi didn’t intend to make a poncho. Her first granny square just got so big, so very fast! Her grandmother suggested making the poncho. Malvi wears it at home now that the weather is turning cold again. She likes the pattern, and wants to learn how to add more colors to her creations. Malvi dislikes are: rude people, those things on the ends of bananas, and paper cuts. Malvi’s likes are: kittens, Fazer chocolate with popcorn in it, and the sound of the playgrounds during recess.
